How Prosperity Conscious Are You?: Attracting Abundance

Each of us in this world fits in one mindset or the other. If we focus on the scarce things in life—on what we don’t have— we see think and feel and react in a poverty consciousness mode

If, on the other hand, we notice the abundance in life more, if we concentrate on what we appreciate already having, doing, being, our perspective becomes one of  prosperity consciousness.

How to we get to that place? By examining your thoughts around scarcity (scarcity around love, money, time, etc.). Doing this allows you to upgrade to thoughts and feelings of abundance.

Sound simple? It is, but you must attend to it regularly, until it becomes automatic, until your new habitual way of thinking is to appreciate the abundance in all areas of your life.

Why is this so important?

Hundreds of scientific and medical studies support the fact that our thoughts direct our emotions.  Our emotions are electro-magnetic-based energy. So the kind of energy we constantly send out of our body magnetizes—or attracts— more of that same kind of energy.

Take this example: If I’m thinking, “I can’t afford that,” my body tenses up, my electro-magnetic field alters from my chemical reactions produced by those emotions, and I send out an attraction to “not enough money.”

I then magnetize or attract situations that are out of my price range. In other words, the energy you send out matches up with energy like it. These fascinating ideas are the subject of a book I am writing right now.

If you’ve ever created a vision board, or heard of picturing what you want in your mind, those are also tools to get your magnetic attractors sending out messages about what you desire. To put it simple, think positive; feel good; focus on what you desire (peace, love, money, time, freedom, opportunity, etc.).

The more you focus, feel and imagine those desires, the more power your magnetic energy has to attract those desires to you.

Prosperity Consciousness Brings Abundance In All Areas

As you focus your thoughts focused on what you want, you will see improvements in all areas of your life. For example, you may be focused on attracting more money by continuously thinking about the money you are grateful for— or the abundance in supplies you already have.

When you focus positively on attracting more money, you are bound to feel better in more and more areas of your life. You may notice that you’re inspired to clean out a closet suddenly, or to finish up that nagging project, bake sweets for the neighbors, send someone a thank-you card, pick flowers from your garden, or give your spouse or child an extra kiss.

So these positive thoughts in one area almost always lead to positive thoughts and emotions in all other areas of your life.

Affirm your way to your desired life. Love yourself enough to do this.

What about you? Have you found that focusing on gratitude and abundance, brings more abundance to you?

    Merry,

The connection between one’s thoughts and emotions is a simple, but profound concept. Thanks for making it for us. And, yes, I have definitely found that focusing on gratitude brings more abundance into my life—and extends to even more areas. The journal I keep is one way I track my “gratitudes.”

Judy, I write in my journal every night just before laying down. I list 5 areas I appreciate in my life. What a great tool to go back to when you may not feel so appreciative or grateful. That is a great way to raise your emotions to more empowering thoughts.

  2. Merry, your message is so true! In my work with clients, I find that when I ask “what’s your intention?” or “what do you want from this?” that their first words are often “I don’t want…” :-) And in some instances, going through what you DON’T want is key to figuring out what you DO want; the trick is not to get stuck in the scarcity place, and to recognize it as a short pit-stop on the path of prosperity. And as you point out, this is oh-so-true about money and the ripple effect it has in our lives. Thank you for the reminder to live from prosperity and gratitude, for no matter what our circumstances, we have much to be thankful for!

I am a huge advocate of upgrading old, disempowering beliefs. The first step is to recognize what those old beliefs are through self-observation (noticing what is running inside your head when you get in a rut). The second step is to rewrite those beliefs into new, empowering beliefs. The third step is to repeat, repeat, repeat the new beliefs until they ‘wipe out’ the memory of the old belief.
Yes, money is so all-pervasive in our lives. It’s definitely an area to get empowered in for all of life to flow with ease.

    Merry,
When I started my business at the end of 2001, I declared that I would not work with anyone who did not bring me up – who was not fun or energizing to be around – and that included clients.

I didn’t know that I was talking about abundance at that time – and since then have been fortunate to know some amazing abundance-focused folks.

To know that you can literally re-create your life – to be around those people who let you do your best work, and accept you for all you are – is an amazing part of this topic. I think that sometimes I take it for granted that I’m around so many big-picture thinkers, like yourself – but it really is a choice we all are making – and I need to really appreciate that – in fact I will do so now! Appreciation all around.

I love that, Lori; that you committed to only work with positive people. I is true that we can re-create our lives simply with the thoughts we choose to host throughout each day. What we think about we get more of. You chose to be around positive people and now you find yourself surrounded by exactly that- all positive people. Great work, Lori.

Yes! A simple concept to remember…and (for me) one I often forget. Because I’m not really motivated by money or material things, I sometimes worry that I’m sending out “money is bad” vibes.

While I don’t have big financial goals…I also don’t want to end up living in a cardboard box! Oops. I just did it, didn’t I? OK. Now I’m thinking about a nice cabin in the woods.

Thanks for the reminder to pay attention!

Great turn-around there, Patty. Worrying about living in a cardboard box is eletro-magnetic energy to attract that box. Indeed, sending out the energy of a nice cabin in the woods (and believing your thoughts matter to the Law of Attraction) will move you in that direction. The more you think about the log cabin, the more you will see steps in that manifestation taking place. I read hundreds of science based books about all of this, so I know it to be a fact, which just thrills me.

“We act in accordance with the truth as we perceive it to be” Albert Bandura.

I love that quote. It is a reminder that my thoughts are powerful and they can direct my intention toward action. It is in alignment with what you said Merry, “The more you focus, feel and imagine those desires, the more power your magnetic energy has to attract those desires to you.”

And truly we can best see this with how people use negative thoughts and mindset. The way they communicate their messages about their current beliefs, Habits, Attitudes – negative dwellers often attract negative in their life. I love it when people get they can attract the positive when their thoughts, words and actions align.

      Tammy,
Yes, it is great to see people get that awareness; that our thoughts really do shift the opportunities we notice and the actions that we take. If I’m thinking about what a crappy day this is, I’m bound to notice more and more ‘crappy’ things going on around me. When I’m focused on how great I feel, I can’t help but notice more things to feel great about. From there, I’m certainly going to feel the energy to take positive action. And one positive move generates the inspiration to take more positive moves.

    Merry,

Thank you for posting this wonderful article about gratitude and appreciation, especially at this time of year in the US when people are more open to expressing gratitude and thanksgiving.

Specific, deliberate, conscious appreciation is what permits us to direct our attention to what’s going right. Since we are seeking that, that is what we tend to see.

You brilliantly illustrated this when you offered that if we’re thinking “I can’t afford that” and added to it negative feelings, we look at everything through that lens and that’s what we see.

Tshombe, I’m glad you found this article in support of your desire to consciously feel good and be in gratitude and appreciation (a fine line between the two…done, and coming still, respectively).
